What it's actually like to own one
Cavaliers are velcro dogs in the best possible way. They want to be wherever you are โ on the couch, in the car, at your feet under the desk. They're gentle, affectionate, and get along with virtually everyone including cats, kids, and strangers.
The important part every buyer needs to hear: Cavaliers have significant inherited health issues. Heart disease (MVD) affects the majority of the breed by age 10, and syringomyelia (a painful neurological condition) is widespread. Research breeders obsessively and get full health testing on both parents.
With the right breeder and good health screening, Cavaliers are wonderful companions. Skip the research and you're signing up for heartbreak and large vet bills.
๐ Training snapshot
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels have an independent streak โ early, consistent training is key. Short sessions with high-value treats work far better than repetition.
