Paralysis Ticks — The Biggest Threat on the East Coast
Symptoms of tick paralysis — go to emergency vet immediately
Wobbling or weakness in the back legs, change in bark (hoarse or quiet), vomiting or retching, rapid or laboured breathing, dilated pupils. A dog can appear to recover briefly after initial collapse — this is dangerously misleading. Go to the vet regardless.

Daily Tick Check Routine — Prevention Isn't Enough
No product provides 100% paralysis tick protection — daily checks are non-negotiable
Prevention products kill ticks but not instantly. A tick attached for several hours before the product kills it can still inject small amounts of toxin. During tick season (September–May in NSW/QLD), run your fingers through your dog's coat every single day, feeling for small bumps. Focus on head, ears, neck, armpits, groin, between toes, and tail base.
